Have you checked your skin lately?

Melanoma can appear as a new mole or freckle or develop in an existing mole––and it can take years, months, or just weeks to develop. That’s why it’s so important to regularly conduct a self-skin cancer examination.

Follow these steps to look for signs of skin cancer:

  1. Using a mirror in a well-lit room, check the front of your body, including your face, chest, arms, stomach, thighs, and lower legs.
  2. Turn sideways and raise your arms to look at the sides of your body.
  3. Using a hand-held mirror, look at the back of your body, including your neck, back, back of thighs and calves.
  4. Look at your forearms, palms, hands, and nails.
  5. Last, check your feet, including the soles and toenails.
